Mutual Aid

The Mutual Aid Working Group is a new group formed by AVL DSA to build community resilience. As such, we welcome new energy and input to shape our endeavors! Join us to discuss how mutual aid principles can support our broader political project, and get boots on the ground building community & solidarity.

What We’re Up To

Since January 2026, we have implemented a monthly DSA volunteer day at 12 Baskets Cafe, a by-donation cafe and community space. We also secured $1,000 of funding from our chapter dues to support local food security through a direct donation to the Cafe.

Get Involved

Our monthly volunteer day at 12 Baskets Cafe is open to all! Returning volunteers meet at the Cafe from 11am-1pm to serve lunch and connect with community members, while new volunteers can arrive for an orientation at 10am. See the Calendar to RSVP for our next event!
